Magi Dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won’t kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Bereta Timedancer's life changed abruptly after a spell gone wrong left her cast adrift. She now travels between times and places as easily as she used to walk from cave to cave, though with no control over her destination and very little advance warning before she is transported. The only certainty Bereta has found is that she will always arrive in the wrong place at the wrong time. Limited to what she can carry, she is forced to leave records of her travels behind periodically with anyone who seems trustworthy. Bereta Timedancer occasionally picks up pygmy dragon traveling companions, though none stay for very long. They either find a time and place to settle down in or are left behind when she makes one of her jumps.
