Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The result of a disastrous lineage composed entirely of inbreeding, MrCryptkeeper was born into the world as a Striped dragon, just like all his siblings before him. He was not to stay this way, however, as all the children born of his parents had been bitten and turned by Vampire dragons, and therefore, the same was done to him. The other dragons did not greet this new creature with love, however. Disgusted and repulsed by his messy lineage and the egg-mutilating process that changed him, they instead thrust him out of their cave and left him in a pile of abandoned eggs. There he sat, until a dragon-breeder named Tonks came, looking for new additions. Upon spotting the neglected egg, she took him back to her own cave, where her dragons loved and cared for MrCryptkeeper. Now an adult, he continues to live in her cave, where he is treated equally regardless of lineage or species; they say he stays because this cave was where he was shown by Tonks what it feels like to be so loved.
