Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Dreamy Nightmare is a strange dragon with a confusing personality. She is a warrior at heart, and does not allow herself to draw emotionally close with any other living thing, though she has taken a liking to Scorch's Wrath. However, she refuses to call him her mate. The only dragon whom is close enough to call her "friend", but still doesn't even understand Nightmare, is Alto Cirrus. The two of them grew up together as hatchlings, alongside Aspen.

Nightmare is not particularly mean, only silent. She has long, black claws that can turn deadly if need be. She is the greatest stealth hunter the Tribe has with her night-vision. But, even though she is strange and silent, she has proven herself to be an outstanding mother, and will protect her hatchlings and eggs with her life.
