Horse Dragons have equine-shaped bodies and hooves instead of claws, which allow them to be fast runners. They specialize in running takeoffs, which are quicker than taking off from a stand-still. Horse dragons are able to stalk their prey from the ground then quickly execute an aerial attack for the kill.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Lachne is a very vivid purple dragon with silvery hooves and a sapphire mane and tail. Her ruby red eyes often give her a demonic look, but Lachne is quite kind and gentle. She loves to run about in the open fields outside the cave, and she often challenges her fellow dragons, especially the whiptails, to race her. She is not a sore loser, and often has a kind word or two for each dragon she meets. Her speed is almost unmatched, however, save for a few times when she has been beaten by Thoos, her whiptail companion. She is the first dragon in the cave to have been taken from the main cave, not the abandoned pile, and was the third of the second clutch to hatch. When not running about, Lachne enjoys spending long hours conversing with her hatch-mates, especially Dorceus, the frilled dragon. Lachne is very kind and gentle to those around her, and she is especially fond of the hatchlings. However, she will fight back to defend her honor, her speed being her greatest weapon in combat.
