Deep Sea Dragons, as their name suggests, spend most of their time in the darkest depths of the sea. They have a bioluminescent dorsal spine that serves to attract prey and communicate with their own kind. As with many deep sea animals, they generally eat whatever they can manage to bait. They rarely leave the ocean floor, surfacing only during breeding season. When they do choose to travel to the shallower depths, they avoid bright lights and will only come up far away from shore.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

A priestess raised from birth to serve an ancient sea god called Janirele. Ashante was told to never betray her god and the other priestesses by leaving their temple. But Ashante's curiosity led to her leave the temple during a sacred ceremony and as punishment she was banished told to wander forever the dark seas.  Then she ran into a small pair of traveling water dragons who took the young priestess with them on their travels. It was during this time that Ashante fell in love with Chegeth, one of the water dragons and leader of their small group.

After years of roaming the worlds oceans with her adopted family she confessed her feelings to Chegeth. And although by this point Ashante had laid an egg by another dragon Chegeth still agreed to become her mate and they have lived together with their friend Chejani for years hoping soon their friend would not be lonely anymore.
