Nebula Dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula Dragons will be exactly the same.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Kylin is no ordinary Nebula Dragon. He was born with an odd mark on his forehead. The mark is green. The design isn't even close to what you would find in the night sky. Kylin's parents, both extremely superstitious, feared him for it and abandoned him at a local Clan's orphanage. No dragon wanted to adopt Kylin. They saw the marking as an imperfection, or a genetic defect. Because he was so shunned, Kylin became shy and reserved, and hid whenever a new dragon came to the orphanage. One afternoon, a witch-dragon came to cure the owner of a cold. She noticed Kylin hiding in the shadows, and saw in him something that she saw in few others- a spark. She adopted him and took him to her home in the mountains. Her Mate, a wizard, explained that the birthmark was a sign. Kylin has the ability to use magic. He became the wizards apprentice. When he grew up, Kylin left the only true home he'd ever known. He is now Valley Clan's Healer.
