Flamingo Wyverns are so named for their resemblance to the tropical birds with whom they often share territory. Their most striking feature is the bony black crest over their faces and snouts, larger in males, aiding both in digging up food and protection when fighting for mates. Males are duller in color than females due to their habit of wandering from nest to nest and picking from less algae-rich feeding grounds.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Thaldion landed softly on the castle wall, peering down at the scurrying humans below in the courtyard. Balancing expertly on his wings he leaned forwards to get a better look, not taking any notice of the cries of alarm his arrival had produced. Suddenly he spotted what he was looking for and darted forward, snatching it up in his talons and carrying it high up into the air. By the time the castle guards managed to push their way through the fleeing crowd it was too late. Thaldion had made off with his prize.
