Moonstone Dragons are named after the orb on their tails, which resembles the gem of the same name. They are nocturnal and gather energy through the absorption of moonlight with their orbs. They seem to glow with a lunar light and are a very gentle breed, feeding off of plants and the moons’ power.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Moonshrink loves his life in the Weyr of the Moon. He lives peacefully by the doctrine of Smoothstone and Gentlestone, working as an artisan of the stones and candles used in important rituals of worship of the Moon Herself. He doesn't ask for much, and so was delighted when his union with Moonplacate, a devout friend of his, was arranged and performed by the First Son himself, Moonsing! Everything in Moonshrink's life had gone well.

Until, that is, the laying of their first egg. Smooth-shelled, perfect.

He was watching the nest while Moonplacate rested. She'd been nervous about the egg, its health. Each dragon of the Weyr of the Moon is only allowed one hatchling, after all. So when she finally went to sleep, Moonshrink was to watch it. Their nest was on a cliff-face. Soft, sloping. He'd only looked away for a moment.

Since the loss of their egg, Moonshrink and Moonplacate have succeeded in their appeal to lay another egg and now have a daughter, Moonswipe, loved and oh-so protected.
