Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Resplendence views herself as the one true queen of the Breedery, with her brother Eminence as titular king. She loves to perch at the very summit of the great stone spire and gaze out at what she imagines to be her own domain. This is very irritating to other dragons who have lived here much longer and, now crowded a bit further down than they would like, formerly preferred the isolation of the upper reaches. But none of them care to match themselves against the golden female, especially given that she has Eminence for backup. It's not worth the drama. Instead the others mostly just ignore her. She does feel a sense of noblesse oblige, and tries to act the way she imagines a leader ought to act, but she is often totally unaware of how her indulging herself leads to problems or upset for others.
