Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The Tribe of Legends believe themselves to be rulers over the Blackfang Clan, when really, they are just a group of rare dragons that the Blackfang Clan consider to be gods. Nonetheless, they still take advantage of the Clan and take the Clan's gold.

Though he is not the eldest member, Spectro is the leader of the Tribe. His reflective scales allow him to bend light and, if the air is particularly humid, he can create a rainbow between his wings, which began the whole fiasco with the Blackfang Clan believing that the Tribe of Legends was a pack of gods. Spectro is generally a kind dragon, but he is smart enough not to be taken for a fool. His mate is Yce, and she is the heir to the Tribe.
