Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Chilperic once was the name of a mighty king with long waving hair, who ruled from the south to the Low Lands. When he died, he was buried with his most valuable golden and glass goods. Still stories are told about his glorious life. Some dragons of Tessel's dragon group believe that a bit of the spirit of the king lives further in the wandering black dragon that one day joined the group. Therefore this dragon was also called Chilperic. The dragon Chilperic is a bit of a loner, but he is proud and a natural leader. The other dragons allow him to walk around like he owns the place out of respect, although they are all independent and will not follow commands. It might look strange, but Chilperic has found a partner in the little mint dragon Liafwin, to whom he is fairly faithful. He is happy in his new environment and feels proud of the lively dragon group.
