Moonstone Dragons are named after the orb on their tails, which resembles the gem of the same name. They are nocturnal and gather energy through the absorption of moonlight with their orbs. They seem to glow with a lunar light and are a very gentle breed, feeding off of plants and the moons’ power.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

By all accounts, Rident should be the Alpha of the Szpon clan. He's the sixth son of the old Alphas; the eldest of the ancient line still living. He bears the proud standing of the royal family and carries himself like an over-glorified peacock.

But this simile describes Rident too perfectly and it's also the tell for why he isn't leader material. For a peacock, while he looks glorious and impressive, doesn't make a good leader nor is he good for much more than show. Rident can puff himself up all he wants; the fact still stands that his younger half brother, Tylko, is vastly more qualified to lead.

It's not that Rident didn't try to garner support and take up the mantle as Alpha. But he lacks the brains to be a leader and he can be rather oblivious. He'd been certain that the title was just going to fall into his lap.

Unsurprisingly he has a tense grudge against Tylko, but Tylko doesn't give him the time of day. After all, all Rident is doing is ruffling his feathers.
