And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.
Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.
Given the name 'Pebblepox' because she constantly seems to be scratching at stones that have stuck between her scales, this poor creature has had a very traumatizing life. At a very young age, she was snatched from her home and taken to a horrible, horrible place called 'garden,' where she and other poor stone hatchlings must stand all day, holding little shovels and wearing ridiculous pointed red hats. She did not mind the staying still part, but being so mocked is quite upsetting-although she never complains-and people keep getting her name wrong, as when they see her they say 'what a cute little garden gnome!' Tired of this, Pebblepox is considering ditching the prison and taking up a career as a hobo.
