Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

HandsomeNilia is a happy Nilia Pygmy Dragon hatchling. He loves his life, and most of the time he feels like everything is right with his world. However, HandsomeNilia is terrified of other dragons, so much so that he won't go into the forest at all. If he can't see the open ground in front of him, then he worries that there might be hidden dragons about to attack him. As long as he can see the nearby area he's good, but anytime he can't, he gets very paranoid.
