Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has a strong odor of turpentine, and your hand burns when you touch it.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This young female dreams of the day when she will find the perfect man, the right sort of dragon to snuggle up to at night and bring home to one's parents... but all of her attempts so far have been flustered. Namely whenever she tries to see if a guy's a decent snuggle buddy, they end up running around and screaming and dropping their dumb scales all over the place. Her mom's tried to tell her that perhaps she should look for a turpentine boyfriend instead of the lumina guys she favors, but she will have none of it. They're so pretty and clean, they're perfect!
