Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

J'aharra is always calm and kind. As far as anybody knows, nothing ruffles her feathers. She always seems to know the best moral answer to a situatio, and always thinks of her choices before running headfirst into a situation. However, despite all this political know-how, she isn't perfect. She's believed to be extremely troubled; very little is known of her past. Every time somebody asks her about it (her past), she changes the subject or makes some evasive remark.

J'aharra is well known for her battle tactics. She is always calculating her enemy's next move, and then doing her best to parry the offense. She has nearly unlimited stamina (although, on the other hand, she has little physical strength) and often will parry enemy blows for hours until they (the enemy) collapses from exhaustion.  Despite her impressive battle skills,few have met her in battle, as she always will try and find a diplomatic solution to any situation.
