Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It likes to perch on the high branches of the taller trees and look longingly up at the sky.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Kinkyu no is a very brave little hatchling. He loves to live higher in the trees than any other canopy dragon. This is only possible because of his small size because the tops of the trees are thinner and cannot hold as much weight as trees further down. He likes to climb to the top of a very tall tree and jump, weaving through the other trees as he glides to the ground. Once he has landed, he finds another tall tree and does it again.

His name means emergent, this is the very top layer of trees in a jungle, which is where Kinkyu no lives out most of his days.
