Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It looks very sick, as though it wasn’t very well looked after...

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Bite Daughter of Uan lives as a result of the neglected dragons in her cave wanting a child. One day in late autumn, Formerly Vampire, Three Minute Vampire, and Confused Vampire went to their mistress and asked why other dragons could have babies and they could not. They were not satisfied with any explanations and became quite sad.  And then an abandoned egg was brought to their cave.  They begged the vampire dragons for help, and Anmar Uan agreed  He bit the egg, changing it, and the little group hid the egg in a dark corner.  Shortly before death, they gave the egg to their mistress and she tried to help it hatch. Before it did, it changed to a neglected egg. Uan and the adult neglected dragons asked to have a spell cast on the hatchling to keep it forever young.  Their mistress agreed to do so once the hatching had wings. Bite Daughter of Uan loves her vampire, but her true heart is with her neglected clan. She knows she is a rare, very special hatchling despite her weakness.
