Coastal Waverunners spend most of their time skimming the waves along the coast, snatching up their prey from the shallow waters. They have developed markings along the leading edges of their body that help disguise them as breaking waves. When they are not hunting, they enjoy playing among sand-dunes and shallow tide-pools. These dragons live in small but noisy rookeries. Some stories say Waverunners can fly for days on end without landing.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

His name means "Large Wave" in Japanese. He is a son of Kazuo and Chiasa and was raised alongside his brother Uxe-bu. He is a very strong and adventurous dragon, and loves to go off exploring on his own. He's always been more outgoing than his brother, and often gets the both of them in trouble. Once, as hatchlings, Kyoha convinced Uxe-bu to wander away from the nest. They ended up making it to the shallow reefs, where Koibito found them. Uxe-bu was scared, so Koibito comforted the boys, while Ryoushin went to find their parents. They had many such incidents when they were young. That adventurous spirit is how Kyoha met his mate. Shikinami, had gotten lost at sea while fishing, and a party of ocean-dwelling dragons was sent out to find her. Kyoha is the one that did. They bounded soon after, and were soon courting. They became mates on a clear Spring day. They love each other so much, and always will.
