Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

As a young hatchling, Rui was always ignored, the other dragons preferring the livelier hatchlings instead of him. No matter what he did, no matter what kinds of tricks he tried, the others would ignore him in favor of a different hatchling. Slowly, he found his hopes falling away. His eager squeals turned into weak cries for attention. As the hatchlings around him gained names, and learned to fly, Rui simply sat back and watched.

One day, the Pink Dragon, Influencer of Oblivion, came to him. " Do you want to learn how to fly" he asked, smiling. Cautiously, Rui nodded, backing away from the larger male. "Great! Do you have a name" Oblivion asked, nudging the young Rui towards the cave's exit. " No." he squeaked, surprised that someone was giving him attention. " Then I'll name you!" Oblivion cheered, flapping his wings. " Your new name is...."

To this day, Rui and Oblivion remain friends, though, deep down, Rui still believes he is truly alone.
