Brute Dragons are among the larger dragon breeds. They prefer to live in solitude or small groups, nesting in high, mountainous regions. The only time they openly seek the company of others is during the mating season, when males will fight for the attention of females. The thunderous crash of Brute Dragons butting horns against each other in competition for mates can be heard nearly a mile away.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Brosco is a notorious bully and is hated by everyone who has the misfortune of meeting him. He rarely backs up his threats but he certainly humiliates his victims, and then roars in laughter as they run. There is one dragon in all of Valkemare who truly cares for him -- his mate -- Fedelmia.

At one time she was one of his victims as well. He bullied her relentlessly for her ridiculous-sounding parrot-like squawk of a roar, but unlike all the others she stood her ground and defended herself. For some reason she almost seemed to tolerate it from him.

Fedelmia had hatched only a month after him. She'd seen the terrible abuse he'd received from his own parents that had stripped him away of everything he was and made him into the only thing he knew: a monster. She had seen what he had been before, and knew that that the true Brosco was a wholly good dragon, if only they could find him. He doesn't believe her, but every day he is more glad that he finally has someone who loves him.
