Magi Dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won’t kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Alsenor, as Myrvek's second-in-command, must be willing to unquestioningly enforce her standards.  As she scares him more than a little, even though he has strong magic and she has none to speak of, he carries out her policies, even if he doesn't fully agree with them.  Solemnity and dignity are all very well, Alsenor believes, but there's also a place in every weyr, even Ironoak, for joy and levity.  He hides his true feelings under a perpetual frown, though, afraid of what the zealous guardian might do to him if she found out what he truly thought.  Alsenor doesn't dare participate in any of the minor rebellions that spring up, but does try to turn a blind eye to their activities.
