Valentine eggs are only seen once a year. Adults’ mating seasons are very short, usually spanning a few weeks in the mid-to-late winter. These dragons were once reputed to be omens of good luck in love.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. As one of the Valentines, long rumoured to bring good fortune and romance, few would suspect Helena to have a dark side. While spreading love with blissful memories in the middle of February, she also spreads greed and ruthless ambition and, despite the clan's elders asking about it, she has refused to say why. She always seems to be kind and helpful to other dragons, but while wandering, some notice a nasty gleam in her eyes, suggesting she could have Multiple Personality Disorder (though nothing is proven). Even her mates and children, (if she keeps any, which is once in a blue moon) have said that Helena seems loving and courteous towards them, then cold and harsh. Some whisper that she was born like it, always wondering if she's crafty or virtuous. One thing's for sure, there may be more to her than meets the eye...
