Algarre dragons are skittish swamp dwellers. Not exactly ferocious or captivating, Algarres live placid lives in estuaries and swamps, feeding on and propagating algae. The dark mottling of green on their skin has photosynthetic properties, and many Algarres spend their days sleeping in the sun, and feeding at night. The brightness of the red patches determines how desirable an individual is as a prospective mate. Algarres communicate through a series of trills and hoots. Their mottled green hides serve to camouflage them among the lush flora they inhabit. Because of this, hearing an Algarre’s trills is much more common than seeing one.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

She is deceptively kind and calming. Critter pretends to be this serene dweller of the shadows, what with her regal crown, straightened posture, and soothing voice. In reality, she is a merciless thief and trickster known for pulling some of the most vicious pranks. Nothing brings Critter more joy than to see perfectly sane creatures lose their heads entirely over the smallest things. Often, her trickery is relegated to stealing things from others and burying them in spots around the swamp she frequents. Critter has a fantastic memory. Even in samey, drab environments like a swamp or forest, she can identify exactly where everything is and where she's hidden all the stuff she's stolen. If not for her mischievous tendencies, she would be an excellent guide.
