Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

Brite's smell is not quite as offensive as that of her companion, Canterville. She is sensible -- as much as an enchanted boulder of cheese can be, in that she keeps out of trouble, ever cautious about being eaten. This does not make her paranoid, however. Brite makes it a point to avoid only young dragons who have not yet learned not to eat their milk-based neighbours, and those with poor impulse control.

Otherwise she is docile, especially around humans. Her keeper is glad that her odour is neither foul nor delicious, but faint and vaguely creamy.
