Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Stercin was abandoned by her parents when she was still a wyrmling. Out in the unprotected forests, greedy hunters sought her hide for the high value. Growing up under the constant threat of being prey, Stercin thought that her life was a punishment. One day when she was out hunting fish, seven hunters appeared from all corners of her vision. They shot spears through the skin of her wings to prevent her from flying away. At that point, Stercin reluctantly thought her life was going to be ended. If her life wasn't ended by death, she would be the proud display of a circus for the rest of time. In a fit of anger and sadness, she turned and spit wicked hot flames at her captors. The screams of the two people who weren't disintegrated at that moment flooded the forest, awakening all of the creatures hiding within. After that day, Stercin fled her homeland to eventually get adopted by a human. Though her owner has plenty of other dragons wandering and playing about, her heart is solitary.
