Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

As silent as a whisper, Noctura is one of the few who can venture through the forest at night safely, as she herself is one of the most fearsome beings within it. Her ability to see even on the blackest of nights is what makes her so valuable to the Castle Master, and her charcoal-black scales allow her to go unseen as she carries out whatever her master wishes. However, her skills are hardly ever used, and she is usually found quietly conversing with her fellow nocturnal breeds.

When she is used, though, her quest is almost always shrouded in mystery, and is the speculation of many inside the castle. Hatchlings often create spectacular stories about her, at which she warmly chuckles at when she gets the chance to hear them. Despite all the stories surrounding her, she has never confirmed nor denied any of them.
