Electric Dragons wield electricity with great prowess. Bright sparks race across these dragons’ bodies in a dazzling dance of light, complemented by the blindingly radiant sparks on their tails. Using their bellies and manes as stores for this electrical energy, Electric Dragons wield crackling magic, stunning and electrocuting their prey with a whip of their tail. During mating season it is typically those with the most brilliant sparks—an indicator of strength and hunting ability—that are drawn to each other.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Kazqala was born into the Qala Clan, based high in the mountains. She was a very average child among her litter, except that from a very young age, she was drawn to the storms that would frequent her clan's cave.

As she passed into adolescence, she found solitude in the chaos of the storm where the others saw danger, and loved sneaking out to create brilliant arcs of lightning among the turbulent skies. It was a habit that her clan, despite initial worries, would learn to tolerate.

During one such flight, Kazqala saw in the fog a distant light, and curious, set out to find what it was. Much to her surprise, as she stumbled upon the light source (it was in a ravine, and hard to reach in the storm), she found another electric dragon, perched on a ledge, and steady despite the especially strong winds in the ravine. Though she didn't realize at the time, she had found a friend and lifelong partner to fly with during the storms; Elikalo.
