Antarean Dragons are peaceful creatures shrouded in mystery. They are primarily found in the desert where they get most of their energy from sunbathing. Their most notable traits are their highly reflective manes and the mysterious light emitted by their scales which fades from bright, nearly blinding yellow-white into dim red as the dragons get older. Legend claims that they are otherworldly beings that came to this world when a meteor struck.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Tale of Woe will tell anyone who listens exactly what causes him woe in his life. Rainy days. The prey that got away. The tooth he chipped the day he crashed into a tree as a hatchling.  But his biggest woes are two that he has so far been unable to come to grips with. Tale of Woe has fallen in love with another male dragon, a love that's so far been unrequited, and, should they ever succeed in getting together, they will be unable to have hatchlings together. Tale of Woe spends his days thinking of ways to attract Metalbeard and his nights dreaming of a future together. He's also on the lookout for a smart and sassy antarean lady dragon whom he might be able to persuade to act as a surrogate mother, should the opportunity ever arise.
