Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

Madam Gruyere lives in constant fear of its cavemate, Buttertongue, as his voracious appetite for dairy products nearly ended its life fresh out of the shell. It is most often found in the company of the large, herbivorous dragons, who protect it with great vehemence. The last time Buttertongue approached the group, he was chased away while being pelted with tofu and accusations of animal cruelty. Madam Gruyere almost spoiled itself with tears of joy.
