Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Nielse's scales are dark and iridescent, and his stomach is the color of a harvest moon. He's is a huge dragon, even bigger than Veyorri. Despite his huge size, he tends to slip into the background because of how quiet he is.  Not only does he move elegantly, but he never talks.  All of this put together makes for quite an intimidating dragon, but he really is a softie. Often you can find him playing with the hatchlings or sleeping curled up with the eggs, and occasionally Sorlaa. Since most people turn to Sorlaa for comfort and advice, he's her outlet when she herself needs a shoulder to lean on.
