Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Another volunteer of the eternal child, Embersoul was adopted into the brood as a hatchling after being found wandering lost in the woods beneath the mountains. Not abandoned by his parents, rather he had been stolen from his clutch by some ignorant being who was not aware of the treasure they had and dumped by the roadside days later. Now safe and warm within the safety of Ashke'hai, he knows only bliss and companionship and has become fast friends with Quicksilver and Sylvani along with the other ever-youth of the Keep.
