When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Zeeman was the first water dragon to join HaleyMo's family. There was no water for hundreds of miles around her cottage, so HaleyMo with the help from the other dragons started to create a man made lake. He had hatched before completion of the lake, though, and had to stay in the well with fish brought to him. He never complained once about his living arrangements because he knew they were making a better home for him out of love. The lake was completed just before he turned into an adult and fish had been put in to keep him from going hungry. He cannot help with the search for more abandoned eggs but he keeps the hatchlings from falling into the water and cares for the young water dragons.
