Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Jiru spends a lot of time with his Black Dragon brethren in the Sylvain clan, and is familiar enough with most of them to act as an ambassador for the family when their missions take them into the territory of other clans. Every day, Jiru divides his time into training both his fighting skills and his technique as a clan diplomat, wanting to ensure that he is just as fierce and respected in a dragons' high council chamber as he is on the battlefield. Thanks to his efforts, his family has managed to keep on fairly friendly terms with nearby clans, even with the occasional rescue mission mishap from one of his overzealous siblings.
