Sunset Dragons are closely related to sunrise dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunset Dragons generally live alone or in small packs. They are more active in the evening, hunting and performing all of their daily tasks as the sun sets.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Zamoo is something of a prankster. Picked up as an abandoned egg one afternoon, his name was already apparent from the marks on his shell. His finder wished earnestly for him to hatch as a Sunset, but perhaps she should have taken warning: a dragon bold enough to name itself in the egg might not be amenable to suggestion. As the hours dwindled and midnight drew nearer, Zamoo steadfastly refused to crack his shell. Increased attention to the egg, pleading, and coaxing had no effect. Finally, in desperation, the finder resorted to threats: "Hatch before midnight, you stubborn little devil; if you hatch as a Sunrise you will be named Zamoo You Jerk." Faced with this potential insult to his dignity, Zamoo at last shifted into action, emerging from his egg scant minutes before midnight and keeping his proud name clean.
