Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It spends its time pouncing on insects.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing. It is also now covered in brightly colored stripes.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Kokino was named for the word "red" in Greek. This little Hatchling has some anger management issues! He's easily annoyed, and it doesn't take much more for his annoyance to escalate into full fledged rage. Instead of hunting insects the way most of his breed do, whichever ones happen to be close, Kokino stalks the ones he feels have personally affronted him. "How dare that grasshopper land on me!" he's commonly heard grumbling. He definitely does not play well with others, and hates sharing anything with anyone. His caretakers are often at a loss as to what to do with him, and dread the day he matures into a full sized dragon.
