Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Cassius is one of the most loyal dragons in the Legion, doing anything and everything for his fellow Vampires. To him, they are like the angels found in human stories, saviors who found him in his darkest hour, giving him life and purpose.

When his egg was turned, he was not abandoned or killed as most Vampire eggs were. His was the only egg ever produced by his parents, and they could not bear to let it go, pleading with the Vampire who bit it, Killjoy, to let them keep it. Cassius' parents raised him as well as they could, sacrificing what little they already had to try and instill some goodness in his heart. Yet they could only do so much, and it was shortly after he matured and lost his voice that they finally admitted defeat, leaving him one summer morning and never looking back. He wandered, alone and lost, until he was found by Killjoy and his new 'sister', Pax. Cassius holds no ill will to his parents for leaving him, instead, he focuses on building ties with his new clan.
