It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Darling Dorkface is proud of her long and slightly inbred lineage, though the slightly inbred part will keep her from breeding. However, Darling does not share the love she feels for her last name with her first. Darling hates her first name, almost to the point of yanking her scales out. All day long it's "Nice weather we're having, Darling." and "Darling, come over here and see this.". The lovable nickname that normally only mates call each other is constantly thrown at Darling, making her nauseous and resent the name. Not only that, but many dragons call her by other cheesy nicknames such as cupcake, beautiful, sweetie pie, pumpkin, muffin, babydoll, sunshine. The list goes on and on, each one more sickly-sweet and overly affectionate than the last. Many dragons visiting the clan are confused to hear everyone calling a single dragon cute little nicknames and simply assume that Darling is the village buggy. As you can imagine, this has tarnished Darling's reputation beyond repair.
