Neotropical Dragons are a breed that originate in rainforests. They are fun-loving and enjoy lounging on tree branches, eating whatever fruit they find. They are also often found sunning themselves on rocks, using their large wings to soak up the rays. In the summer, males compete for mates by showing off their striped wings and gliding in spirals down the tree trunks. It is said that the larger the wings, the more likely the male will attract a suitable mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

Minkei is a troubled young dragon. Her quarrels began when she was near the end of her hatchling stage, right after her wings became visible. There seemed to be excessive amounts of membrane between each thin bone as she grew: an early sign of a larger wingspan. Any other dragon would be proud to have such dexterous appendages, and right after maturity, she was extremely fond of their huge size—she could even see jealousy simmering in the eyes of others from time to time. But when her first mating season came 'round, things changed.

Like all neotropicals, the males with the largest wings can call upon whatever female they like to pair with. Minkei hoped to attract the opposite gender with her feminine traits, but instead, the males were offended and taken aback by her wing span. They grew ashamed of themselves—no male would want to be with a green who trumped one of their best traits. The tropical was shunned during the season, and never truly moved back into the rhythm after that.
