Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Despite being as black as outer space, it has a few bright patterns on it.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Little Nebula Shimmer dreams of one day finding the constellation and mate of his dreams. Little does he know, however, that he will never grow old because of his stunted growth. He anxiously gazes up to the sky to see if he can see one yet, but as a hatchling, his eyesight is too poor to see one just yet, and he cannot form the constellation on his body. His small scales remain in disarray with bright spots scattered about in a haphazard way. Since he is unaware of his dismal fate as a hatchling forever, he continues to cling to the hope of one day finding that perfect constellation in the sky and attracting the perfect mate with it!
