Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Z'tone was bitten by a member of the Stonefang coven. Unfortunately, the coven was entirely female. When it was discovered that Z'tone was a male, he was rejected and left to survive on his own. However, as soon as he left the Stonefang caves, he became aware of a new and powerful compulsion. Filled with hope, he set out to follow the guiding sensation, expecting to find a new coven at the end of it. Instead, he found the Zeta tribe. The dragons of the tribe were deeply suspicious of him at first, as many of them had never seen a vampire before—but all had heard stories of them. Z'tone was despondent. He had already been denied by one family, and thought himself on the verge of being cast out again. As he was about to turn and leave, Z'ekiela herself appeared before the stunned Zeta dragons. "This dragon is as worthy as any of you," she declared, "and I will not have my judgement questioned." Z'tone was grateful for her acceptance, and vowed to prove himself worthy indeed.
