Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Zephyr's history is not long, nor elaborate. He is not some rich noble-dragon, nor was he once an innocent dragon, converted by a monstrous creature; he was hatched as a nightmare. He grew, instinct guiding him to rip out the throats of his prey, so he might feed on the crimson that splashes down their necks. He is an unliving nightmare; an immortal being who's very existence defies all that is 'good' and 'right' in this world. He is not alone as a monstrosity either; others of his own species lurk in the cave. Some, his thralls and converts—his children, in a manner, that are forever bound to his will. Others, bitten, abandoned, and taken in. Free ranging beings that still prove too weak to be a threat, and still others enthralled to them.

These do not bother Zephyr; he is king among the dead in this Cave, and those who challenge his throne often find themselves wishing they had worshiped it instead.
