Red Dragons are similar to typical story book dragons. They shoot flames, can fly, etc. However, they aren’t evil creatures as depicted in myths and won’t go around raiding castles, killing knights, or kidnapping princesses. They live in a variety of habitats, from forests to coastlines to abandoned castles, usually in warm climates, and eat whatever living creatures they can find.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Kurotsuchi-oni, or Kurot, was a very lonely dragon at the start, until she met Alexandra, who healed her wounds one day. Together the two watched over a blue egg, until a sailor had taken it. Once a year, a winter dragon Kurot rather despised came down for a visit, and often told them what the world outside the ugly city was like. Alex and Kurot decided to leave, and after months in the barren wasteland, Kurot slipped off a ledge and fell into a chasm, to be caught by a river dragon, Ano Hi no Kawa. Later, a storm dragon, Dante, came and took Alex and Kurot back to Eef's mountain, Mirra, the winter dragon, tagging along. Kurot seemed to have forgotten everything except her name (though only remembering Kurot) and that she'd known Alex and Mirra, becoming best friends with the both of them.
