Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

DarkGypsy is a solemn and serious Pink Dragon hatchling. She doesn't play with the other hatchlings in her cave. Instead she spends her time mentally talking with adult dragons, usually about the security of her cave. Mostly she spends time with the Guards, but DarkGypsy also does hang around with dragons from the military of their cave. She just wants to feel secure, safe from harm. As a newly hatched hatchling, DarkGypsy wondered into the woods near her cave, and straight into a mother bear with her cubs. Even though DarkGypsy was small and helpless for a dragon, the bear still attacked. DarkGypsy would certainly have died if she hadn't been found by her owner and the dragon DreamyGuardian who scared off the bear.
