When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Sookie lives in the huge lake at the edge of the territory with the other water dragons, but she often follows the river down to the sea. She enjoys swimming with the dolphins and racing the large merchant ships across the harbour. A friendly soul, Sookie has never done anything more harmful than squirting the odd unsuspecting sailor with a thin jet of water.

Many of the men and sailors on the ships and docks enjoy seeing and talking to Sookie and many believe that if you see her at dawn, the sea will be calm for the next day.

Once, when the lighthouse further up shore was out, Sookie took it upon herself to warn incoming ships of the rocks. Regrettably, this lead to one particularly old sailor to have a mild heart attack as he saw her rise from the dark depths into the warm glow of the lamps.

Children on the boats and docks sneak Sookie titbits from their plates. Though not enough to satisfy the hunger of a dragon, she nevertheless appreciates the gifts.
