Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Leafyrune was the unfortunate result of letting Frostrune get too close to her.

Leafyrune was going to Mist of Gray Skies' nest, and Frostrune swooped over her, and froze her. When Mist came, he was so angered that he summoned a storm that eternally casts lightning over his perch. Leayfrune's friend, the Littlerune, was also frozen by Frostrune.
