Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Maloxoche hunts in the thick forests of the jungle, scanning every track and leaf for signs. In short bounds she leaps into the air and makes a uneven turn before diving back down into the greenery, seizing her prey. She is one of four of the "Ancient Strikers". Maloxoche's role in the group is to track, ambush, or hunt down either prey or their enemies. The enemies happen to be neighboring clans and the battles are for territory. When they go into battle, Maloxoche is usually the first to attack, but the enemy never knows it before she has her teeth wrapped around their throat. Her mate happens to be Xicoatli, although they rarely agree on the battle plans that are prepared.
