Magi Dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won’t kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Most other students at Delirium's Academy think Noctem is a lazy, sleepy guy who never is on time for the lectures and seminars. Still he always manages to pass the exams and write incredibly good papers. Noctem simply is nocturnal by nature (even if his breed is not known for such a behaviour). He has tried many times to adapt his circadian rhythm, either by setting an alarm to get up early, or by gradually shifting his rhythm backwards until it matched up with that of the rest of his brethren but whatever he does, he immediately falls back into his old habits. So the only choice he has is to make the most of the dark hours when he actually is awake and active enough to get things done.
