Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

Blessing of the Swiss is a very loving dragon. It stays in the cave because it's moist in there. It loves to play with any hatchlings that are living in the cave. Blessing of the Swiss lets them nibble at itself, because any cheese that comes off is edible, and grows back. The other dragons enjoy its company.
