Neotropical Dragons are a breed that originate in rainforests. They are fun-loving and enjoy lounging on tree branches, eating whatever fruit they find. They are also often found sunning themselves on rocks, using their large wings to soak up the rays. In the summer, males compete for mates by showing off their striped wings and gliding in spirals down the tree trunks. It is said that the larger the wings, the more likely the male will attract a suitable mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Being that Paetsy's parents originally and do still hate one another, he's had an interesting childhood. He had to get use to the aggressive displays of his violent mother and the fed up anger of his father. His parents are the kind that spend the day screaming and the night snogging.

His dad took an interest in ensuring he doesn't end up like his mother. A calm and patient teacher, Paetsy has a particularly close relationship with him. He adores him. The only fault he has is the snide comments he makes about his mother. He has a rocky relationship with her, but he still loves her deep down.

The only thing Teela and her son share in common is their like for blood. It's a rather odd thing such a peaceful dragon be so infatuated by the crimson liquid. He sees plenty from her parents, who often attack one another, and from his own supreme clumsiness. He seems to almost try to get hurt and has been known to gnaw on another just to see blood. It seems to almost calm him.
